Enhancing Organizational Communication using Sociometric Badges

چکیده

We present applications to enhance communication for an organization using Sociometric badges. The badge collects the voice, motion, and location data of the wearer. We use this data to determine the amount of face-to-face interaction, conversational time, physical activity levels, and physical proximity to other people. With the data collected from each individual we analyze the collective behavior of the organization and provide individual feedback to encourage increased efficiency in communication. To visualize the feedback we have implemented three sample applications on multiple platforms: the Meeting Mediator, the Presence Book, and Follow the Star, a socially intelligent, location-aware visualization tool.
